Team building refers to a wide range of events carried out to improve the team?s general performance. It focuses on bringing out the best in a team by ensuring self-development, leadership skills and constructive communication. Team building also refers to the selection and development of teams from scratch. It is a vital factor in any working environment.

A number of different exercises can be pursued to build teams. Easy bonding exercises also aid in building teams. Team building practices can be as intricate as simulations and multi-day treats. Different kinds of team building exercises improve the individual capacity of the team members to work collectively in a group. The aim is to build cohesive units of individuals targeted at attaining a common objective.

There are many reasons behind building teams rather than promoting individual efforts.

1.	The shared feeling of reward and punishment instill the spirit of unity and enhance the usefulness and effectiveness of the job performed.

2.	Team building makes the workplace environment more enjoyable by removing any hurdles to communication.

3.	Everyone feels himself to be a part of the big whole and participates in making decisions for the common good.

4.	The strength of the team increases because the precise strengths of the individuals are identified and polished specifically. It develops the chances of the team members to get to know themselves more intimately.

5.	Team members become familiar with their strengths and weaknesses and make use of their skills properly to raise the overall productivity of the team. The practice of collaboration among the team members increases the spirit of closeness and togetherness among the team members.

Most often, teams are built arbitrarily without keeping in mind the fundamentals of a good team. It is to be highly recommended that teams should be designed very carefully.

The blend of the people in teams ought to get very active. Every team should comprise these fundamental prerequisites.

1.	The expectations should be clearly defined so that every member of the team is aware of the goal.

2.	The perspective of team building ought to be clear to all the members.

3.	Each member ought to be committed to attaining the objective of the team. Commitment and spirit of team work ought to not be absent from the team members.

4.	The team should be competent and have a predefined charter to follow.

5.	The team ought to be empowered to own (part of) the ultimate aim.

6.	Seamless communication and collaboration are necessities to achieve the point of team building.

7.	Creativity ought to always be encouraged in team work. Creativity and innovation open new methods to the successful implementation of approaches to accomplish the common goals.

8.	A strong leadership directs the path of a team and strengthens its roots.

A strong team built according to all these reasons assures the successful manipulation of the resources to accomplish the goal. Those organizations that lay immense importance on building teams, rather than rewarding individual employees on the basis of individual efforts, flourish more than others. Adequate planning and organization for team building paves the way for greater successes.

Occasionally, it is fairly easy to join a new office team when you get a new career, but often there is a bit of friction. Occasionally, there is out-and-out resentment, especially if you are replacing a popular colleague who was sacked. This is not your fault naturally, but the onus will be usually yours to restore the team spirit.

There are certain acts of politeness that ought to always be performed whenever you join a new group, even a conversation or dining table. The first one is to not to talk too much straight off. You will learn more about the group by listening than talking or as my Dad used to say: ‘You learn more with your mouth closed than with it open’.

You are the new boy or girl and you have to defer to the established group for a time. Utilize this time to learn people’s names and characters. It is disasterous if you come over as a know-all at this stage of your new ‘friendships’. It is also best to learn how they do things at this stage, even if you know how to do them better.

The time will come when you can describe your methods, after you have tried theirs. This is a time of deferment and learning. No one will appreciate you coming in and changing everything straight away, even if you are the new manager, because it will imply that they are stupid having been doing everything in the wrong manner until you got there. If you give it time, you may even find that their way is better, once you understand it.

It is also best to not talk a lot about your preceding job. Nobody really cares anyway and, since your future is in your current job, it is better to concentrate on that than on the past. Give a bit of praise where praise is due, but be wary of giving colleagues justification for thinking that you are patronizing them or toadying up to them.

Work steadily, pull your weight, but stop short of attempting to make yourself look as if you are sucking up to the proprietors. Do not try any job that you know is above your capability without first voicing your concerns. Somebody will be assigned to help you and this is a great chance to make friends. Endeavour consciously to become a valuable member of the group.

If you need help, approach the difficult one in the team, not the friendly one – the same tactic as in a fight. If you can turn this one, the others will follow. One handy tip is to never argue with anyone at this stage of your association. If you lose you will have undermined your position and if you will you will have created resentment. It is a situation where you cannot win, so do not take it on.

Team building takes time and talent, just the same as building any friendship, but if you bide your time and work at it you ought to glide into the group like a ship off the slipway.

Anger is an issue which seems to be revealing concern among many people nowadays. Perhaps that is because it is an issue which affects all generations, races, communities. In fact, anger has the potential to touch anybody without prejudice.

It is of great concern to those who have to live with anger every day. Anger not only involves the one affected but also all those they come into contact with every day. Because it is such a very important social issue in society today, people are always trying to develop programs to help those affected by anger-related issues.

Reading anger management articles may be beneficial to someone who is affected by anger. There are different types of anger management articles, different in that they target specific groups such as teenagers, adults, men, women, couples, families and other groups affected by anger.

These articles are informational; empowering individuals with useful knowledge regarding the problems of coping with anger, anxiety, frustration and aggression. With guest writers and specialists in the area of anger management, these articles are packed full with interesting details and effective instruments that people can take home and use to transform their emotions of anger and frustration into healthy, normal feelings.

Reading an anger management article can provide an individual with an opportunity to gain new knowledge on anger management, which may in turn provide some relief; a chance for people struggling with daily feelings of anger, rage and frustration to find hope and encouragement. This would not only allow a victim or sufferer to find some hope but it would also provide them a chance to realize that others also face similar challenges. Sharing personal experiences may help people to own up to their problem and perhaps discover underlying reasons for their anger and frustration.

A great part of helping an individual work through anger-related issues is support. Assuring the person that they have people to count on, people who will stand by them no matter what may happen, this is extremely relevant to people who are fighting daily to overcome problems with anger. Encouragement is also important. Encouraging the individual to attend support group meetings, talk to a counsellor or read an anger management article may make a big difference in their treatment.

Yes, society appears to have a huge problem with violence, aggression, frustration and anger but, society is also attempting to create anger management programs to help decrease this sociological problem. Providing anger management qualified people to work in public places such as schools, corrections, mental health centres, society is proving that they are concerned. Aside from visiting counsellors, doctors and treatment facilities, people can also attend anger management courses and consult anger management articles and books

These opportunities are available to people who are serious about making positive changes in their lives, it certainly would be in their best interest to accept the opportunity. Consulting anger management articles might be the turning point for an individual. If the article has a positive effect in reaching only a single person and making positive changes in their life and the lives of those around them, it was definitely worth writing.

If you are planning a f?te, a church social, a street party, a fund-raising event or something like that, you will of course want it to be a success. In order for it to become successful, you will need to have lots going on, so you will require collaborators to help you organize and run sections of the whole event.

For example, you will need someone to liaise with the stallholders, someone to liaise with the caterers, the bar, the stage, security, et cetera, et cetera and presumably you will sit in the centre of the web holding everything together, soothing tattered nerves and providing advice. For this to work well you will need a team and the first part of your task will be to build that team and motivate it.

1] The first thing to do is calculate how many helpers you will need – one for every major function. You might need five or seven lieutenants and they have to be competent, trustworthy and honorable. They can be friends but they may also become friends.

2] These officers might also require a few sergeants and you might have to help select these members of staff as well. Once you have your team, make certain that everybody knows his or her job and also knows how to do it. Be approachable at all times. Be cautious to not become intimidating to younger members. Try to build a camaraderie.

3] Do not be seen to only talk to your officers, make a point of talking to helpers on all levels and learn as many names as you can. Hold get-togethers to plan details of the event and let every person have their say.

4] Make it clear that the final decision is yours but that up to that point everyone’s opinion is valid. If there are disputes between departments, say catering and cleaning, listen to both sides carefully and have all your officers vote on the outcome if you like.

5] Keep your finance officer and legal adviser close to you and listen to them carefully. If your legal officer says that you require criminal record checks on potential helpers, do it. Let everyone see that they are part of a team that is attempting to become as professional as it can be – it will make them proud to be a member of it.

6] One extra, very convenient person to have on the team, is like a minister without portfolio. A Mr. Fixit – someone who knows everybody and where he can get his hands on anything at a moment’s notice. This person will prove invaluable when things go wrong as they surely will.

Your team is your guarantee of success and you are the one that has to turn a group of amateurs and individuals into a professional team capable of staging an event that will give people pleasure, raise money and have people waiting impatiently for the next one and the way that you do this is known as team building – some have it intuitively and others have to learn it.

Family is the foundation of society with robust associations within the family helping the members feel robust and secure. A good family base instills values of relationships in growing kids and I have noticed that those families that play games and do activities stay together with respect, faith and trust in the institution with better communication abilities.

I fully support events for team building in families that not only build synergy, but also hold the family together. Team building events and exercises have helped in building interpersonal associations and offering great enjoyment that in turn fosters better communication and team spirit towards a common goal. The frequency of these events does not matter as much as their helping one and all in building togetherness.

Some of the team building activities and exercises that have really helped are:

Help My Blind Brother Out:

This interesting group event gives every member in a group a chance to feel the advantages of group synergy and instills a cooperative spirit in every member of the group with the lesson that cooperation helps in the fulfillment of bigger goals.

The members are first separated into two equal groups. Some random objects like a seat, table, a ball, and bucket should be strewn about the room. The two classes stand on opposite sides and one member from every group is blindfolded.

The two blindfolded members have to get to the other side without bumping into any of the objects scattered around or the blindfolded member of the other group.

The other team members help their blindfolded member in the pursuit by giving directions and hints. A point is awarded for each successful attempt and the team getting the most points wins.

These are a few my favourite activities:

This event has been very helpful for extended families in getting to know more about the activities that the children and other new family members enjoy doing. It proves really functional in family reunions to help everyone get to know each other better.

All the members of the extended family stand in a circle and every one takes a turn to show what they like to do through actions, this continues until he or she is correctly told what the actions portray. This could also be played with a variation where a favourite animal or food is depicted and guesses have to be made.

This activity has helped numerous individuals comprehend that most of them ultimately had a lot of common likes and dislikes and helped others play a role in encouraging each other to carry out the things they always wanted to.

Building a Family Bond

Building a family bond has never been easy in real life nor will this activity be simple either, but it will definitely build creativity and patience between the family members, sometimes in the extended family too. The activity begins with all members standing in a small circle as close to every other as they can.

Then every one extends his or her hands and with each hand holds the hands of a different person. Then they attempt to untangle the bonds so created without letting go off any one?s hand. This activity not only builds synergy, but also instills a feeling that patience and creativity has helped resolve most worries in a group, be it in a family or in a team at work.

This article is about the reasons for failing at Internet marketing. There are many reasons why people are unsuccessful at Internet marketing and everything else for that matter. Most people who write on this topic will say that the first cause is lack of hard work, the second is lack of originality and the third is lack of focus and I agree that these are the three main causes for failure, but I want to explore some of the other reasons for failing at Internet marketing

Lack of helpful content is one of these reasons for failing at Internet marketing. Too many inexperienced Internet marketers focus on earning money and they think that they can best achieve this by firing a shotgun of web site banners at their visitors.

The secret here is so clear that nobody is trying to keep it, but, visitors to your web site have not come to marvel at your banners. They have come to be educated, to be amused or to solve a problem they have. And they want it free, so your banners are the last thing on their minds when they arrive. Particularly if they off topic. You have to have articles that are pertinent to the content of your site.

The more pertinent articles the better. The best type are absolutely original and unique to your website, however, some people cannot write well and others cannot pay to have them written for them. These people can get articles free from article databases (simply Google it).

The main snag about this is that you will need to keep the resource box at the end of the article on your web site. This will cause some of your visitors to leak away, but certainly not all.

I have several such sites and they are doing all right. A website of other writers’ content is very easy to make, so you could have a website up in a day, if you want to swiftly create a website around a merchant’s special offer that does not fit into your existing websites. This can be very useful, especially if you want to build up a portfolio of say, 150-200 websites.

The trick here is to get your visitor to click on your ONE high-paying advert rather than leak out by clicking the link at the bottom of the article. You can do this by putting the advert in the right place and prominent. The articles should concentrate on the keywords of the product you are advertising.

Those wishing to be successful Internet marketers must be prepared to keep acquiring knowledge. The Internet changes quickly and new strategies and media are being devised every month. Twitter has only been around for four years and it just received its 16 billionth tweet. How long have you known about Twitter?

Have you learned how to harness it for marketing yet? Even if Twitter does not appeal to your object audience, you should have learned what is has to provide by now, so that you can make an informed decision.

Maybe, one day you will find a product to market where Twitter can be of assistance. Keep learning and be prepared. This all boils down to hard work, because there is always someone claiming to have come up with the next Myspace or Twitter.

While you are taking a rest from researching your next product or project, or the next social medium, you ought to improve your knowledge of programming or editing so that you can make improvements and adjustments to your web site yourself in order to keep it looking new.

Anger, which is a perfectly normal emotion, can change into something frightening and ugly. The first impression you might have of anger issues may bring about images of a couple fighting, a parent abusing a child, a teenager lashing out at a teacher or a parent. Rarely will images of angry children come to mind. Unfortunately children, at very young ages, have to deal with emotions of anger and rage. This is a truth which is often very difficult for adults to understand or deal with.

Children, young children especially, aren’t normally aware of how they feel. When a child becomes upset or mad they simply show these emotions through their behaviour. A good example of this might be a little boy in a supermarket who throws a tantrum because he’s upset. Many parents have had to deal with similar situations. It is unfortunate that often these occurrences are overlooked or dismissed because they are “just children”. Anger management in kids is as important, or perhaps even more important than anger management in adults.

A youth requires instruction and guidance from their coming into the world to their entry into adulthood. The things they learn throughout their young lives are likely to form the person they become as an adult. For this reason, anger management in children with difficulties controlling their temper is extremely important. Finding ways to teach anger management for kids might present challenges.

There are programs designed specifically for kids with frustration, anxiety and anger management issues. Discovering one that works for a particular child might require testing many methods. Not all youths will respond to the same treatment for anger management for kids. Because a child cannot always relate their feelings surrounding angry outburst, finding the right approach may take some time. Until the issue is resolved or at least controlled, it is imperative to continue looking.

Kids may respond well to worksheets, games and fun activities. All of these can be used effectively to teach anger management for kids. Developing programs which incorporate each of these methods might be the best route to take. A child completing a worksheet, colouring sheet or participating in games and activities with underlying messages with regard to anger management for kids, may not even realize they are working on their anger-related problems.

Making the activity fun doesn’t mean that the anger issue has to be omitted. Choosing fun activities which teach healthy interaction and decision making might be good for anger management for kids. Teaching them to take turns and helping them to learn that they can’t always be the best or the winner would definitely make a difference when confrontational situations arise. Small activities which instill values and positive thinking would be helpful for anger management for kids.

If a child is old enough to talk about their anger problem, encouraging them to share their feelings is important. Suggesting they talk to someone who they feel comfortable with and trust is a good idea regarding anger management in children. Asking them to write or make a drawing about their emotions may help them disclose their underlying issues, whether fear, hurt or sadness.

If you can teach them to request help when they feel threatened or angry, it would certainly help the child with an anger-related problem. The important point to understand when thinking about anger management for kids is that they are just “children”. Their minds are not equipped to handle adult situations and so they will need a much more delicate approach.

Manic Depression or Bipolar Disorder is considered one of the worst types of depression that people usually suffer from. Characterized by sudden and extreme mood swings. Manic depression is called that because manic means ‘mania’, which refers to the ‘ups’ while depression refers to the ‘downs’. Bi-polar also refers to both ends of the spectrum of emotions

Many people experience sudden changes in their moods and, sometimes, these so-called mood swings are not just because of PMS (pre-menstrual syndrome) or stress. Doctors have diagnosed mood swings as a common symptom of depression, if these mood swings become severe. For instance, if someone becomes annoyed because a shop does not have his favourite biscuits, it may just a sign of a spoilt brat, but when becoming annoyed also means that that person will scream and swear at the shop keeper, it could represent the start of Manic Depression.

The ‘manic’ periods or ‘ups’ in Manic Depression are described as the times when a person suffering from Manic Depression experiences excessively high periods, consisting of heightened energy, sudden outbursts of euphoric mood, extreme irritability, together with racing thoughts and aggressive behaviour. According to therapists, someone suffering from Manic Depression may have these so-called manic ‘periods’ not just for a day or so, they can actually go on for as long as a week or even longer than that.

During the ‘low’ or ‘down’ periods, people suffering from Manic Depression may experience very similar symptoms to those who are suffering from ‘normal’ depression. People who are suffering from Manic Depression experience periods of a depressed state of mind – including feelings of worthlessness and being unloved.

There are various other symptoms as well: irrational guilt, extreme sadness, anxiety attacks, feeling of not belonging, extreme pessimism and an obvious lack of pleasure. According to therapists, someone who is depressed constantly for more than a week can officially be diagnosed as someone who is suffering from Manic Depression.

In spite of it being one of the most common and acute types of depressive disorder, Manic Depression can be successfully treated, according to therapists. There’s no reason to worry too much about having it. You only need to follow the procedures that the therapist tells you and take the prescribed medication in the proper dosage in order to help you (or your friend or love one) overcome Manic Depression before it is too late.

Furthermore, individuals who suffer from Manic Depression should consult their therapists on a regular basis, in order to be able to release their pent-up emotions to someone who is able interpret just what it is they are going through a lot better than an untrained person.

Although positive results for Manic Depression can be obtained from natural alternatives, a proper and a more lasting relief from Manic Depressive symptoms can best be acquired through consultation with a cognitive behaviour therapist. Contrary to some thought, when it comes to psychiatric treatments, psychiatrists, preferably cognitive behaviour therapists are still the best ones to visit for a lasting cure for Manic Depression.

Have you ever bought an item of equipment that you thought could come in very handy only to leave it lying around for months because you could not work out how to set it up? Or not set all the functions up, because it would have cost hours to read through the manual, which looked as if it had been translated by a computer anyway?

Most people have experienced the situation at some time or another. I had an alarm clock once that had dozens of features like waking me up at diverse times on the weekend to during the week and randomly selecting a radio channel every day to wake me up. It also had a feature with which I could train it to understand some voice commands, but I could not be bothered with all that.

I simply wanted it to wake me up whenever I set it. Video recorders are similar devices. How many times do you hear of people setting their video recorder to record a movie only to get a soap opera on another channel? It used to happen a lot, didn’t it?

The aspect that I am getting at here is that the designers of these instruments have been told to put as many functions as possible into them up to a price in order to be all things to all people. However, in making their machines so convoluted, a great deal of people decide not to bother using them at all and will avoid that make in the future, which is the exact opposite of what the manufacturers intended.

The next time you go out looking for some electrical implement, you will say to yourself: “Oh, So-And-So, you need a diploma to use one by So-And-So. I’m not buying one of theirs”.

So how can this affect you? Well, if you have to coordinate anything that you expect others to take part in or be animated about, try not to make it overly complicated. I am not saying ‘dumb-down’, just don’t show off by putting all the bells and whistles on it merely to show that you can do that. People will not thank you for it, they will take no notice of your project.

This has a great deal of implications for on line projects where people can be hundreds of miles apart but still be collaborating on a joint project from home. Open source programming is a fine example of this kind of work. The team leaders should keep everything as simple as possible if they want the maximum co-operation.

One way that you can use to check to see if your project is being understood is to inquire. It sounds self-evident and it should be, but a lot of team leaders will not ask because they think that it makes them look weak and unknowledgeable. Again, in fact, the opposite is true. A good team leader is not a despot; a good team leader is a good organizer and is considerate.

Dealing with anger is seldom easy, since people are continually facing problems and reasons for conflict. However, our anger management technique is very important. We have to deal with price hikes, arguments, war, violence, crime, everyday common stupidity and continuous interruptions. There is not one solitary, single person in this sometimes problematic life that has not gotten angry at some time.

Anger is a feeling that we all have to cope with. But anger comes in many forms: the root of anger is hatred, anxiety or frustration as a result of previous deception or disappointment, comes from bad anger management technique. This is true. However, true or not, even in the Bible it says that when Adam and Eve were created on Earth, the first incident was when the Devil, in the form of a snake, lied, deceiving Eve. Once that lie became known, the world began suffering many problems, including violence, murder, war, shortages, disease, weather disasters and so forth.

Since that first lie, the world has become more chaotic and continues to worsen as the years roll by. We can examine how a lie can instigate anger by looking at one individual scenario. That person engaged in criminal activities, like stealing, writing bad checks, and selling prescription medications. Now that person had to embroider lying into the picture, since she felt that her behaviour and actions were only a means of survival.

So, she started lying to cover up her crimes. As time went by, she became angry and could not cope, simply as a result of her under-developed anger management technique, the way she was behaving, her way of thinking, etc. The person began to act as anyone else suffering from uncontrolled anger would act.

This included, undermining others, insulting others, verbally and physically assaulting, threatening, belittling, mocking, et cetera. The woman was diagnosed with mental illness, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Bipolar. She also had health issues, including diabetes. Now, if we examine all the aspects of that person’s anger and anger management technique, we can see, if we search deep enough, that her lying, which caused paranoia, was the basic reason for her behavioral problems.

A lot of people have a problem with their anger management technique. Many of the people with post-traumatic stress disorder react angrily because they are reacting to a flashback in memory. That is right! People with post traumatic stress disorder often repress their emotions and when they are violent or angered, it is often the result of fighting the sources that caused their trauma and not the person in their immediate presence.

However, we do not see this as the reason for the woman’s anger, since she did not show signs of it to the public. Therefore, people would exclude posttraumatic stress disorder as the cause, or at least skip over the chance of it. Now let’s take a look at diabetes, since this illness affects the nerves. The shortage of insulin creates additional problems, and many people with diabetes will become upset for little or no reason at all.

However, most of us do not act angrily, assault, insult or attack others. We should also look at why crimes are committed and then we would see that it is usually a serious behavioral problem that has come from lying. Therefore, when we look at this individual we have to deal with the underlying problems to stop her from lying and get her to move forward, avoiding episodes of frustration, anxiety and anger by using anger management technique.

However, this person is in denial, which means that until the legal system forces her to study anger management technique, she probably will not get help herself. In addition, even if the criminal justice system does insist she gets help, it probably won’t work, because her denial has existed for undoubtedly many years. So, now we are dealing with a real problem in anger management technique , since her behaviour is life long, which means extensive therapy will beneeded.

Anger is a normal emotion, but when it interferes with another person’s life, it becomes a serious problem. This person is not hurting only one person, she is hurting society as a whole, because when she steals or writes bad cheques, society picks up the tab with tax increases, as well as other levies. One of the worst things that I have noticed with this type of person, is that the system and society allows it to continue; only attempting to deal with it when the person is in custody. Once the person is released, then it begins all over again. This is a sequence of events involving lack of control due to anger mis-management and bad anger management technique.
