Every kid in America has owned a Matchbox car or Hot Wheels car, usually both. The Matchbox name started as a brand name for the British owned die-cast toy manufacturer Lesney Products. Before Matchbox car there biggest sales success was a replica of Queen Elizabeth’s II coronation coach which sold a million models.

Jack Odell created the Matchbox car proper in the 1950s. His daughter could only take toys to school that could fit into a matchbox. So it was he set out to design a car that could do just that and it wasn’t before long that the Matchbox cars came into existence. Their clever packaging and affordability made them an instant hit with kids everywhere. They were so popular that the term “Matchbox” became a catch phrase for all small cars of a similar type even to this day.

Lesney a combination of the names Leslie and Rodney, was founded by Jack Odell, Leslie Smith and Rodney Smith. In the 1950’s British die cast toys were very popular, namely Dinky, Corgi and Matchbox. They each had their own niche markets and most of their products were successful. Among toy collectors this period is known as the “Golden Era” of British die cast toys. Come to used cars in Los Angeles for a great selection of cars you will love.

The earliest series of Matchbox cars were called the 1-75 series, even though they didn’t nearly have that number of cars. As time went by, Lesney attempted to expand their markets new series of cars. One of these was the Models of Yesteryear, a remake of classics from the early age of automobiles. Other additions were the Major Packs, large scale construction vehicles, and the King Sized series, which was a larger scale truck and tractor set. In 1968 Matchbox was at the top of its game and nobody else came close. That is until Mattel invented the Hot Wheels, with their revolutionary low friction, high speed “race” wheels. The Hot Wheels were painted bright, metallic colors and had fancy mag wheels on slick designs. It was a nightmare for Matchbox as their U.S. market collapsed.

Scrambling to come up with their own answer to Hot Wheels, Matchbox came out with the “Superfast” series and sold play sets as well. While these cars were in production, Matchbox redesigned their cars and retooled their machines to match the scale and width of Hot Wheels. By the early 1970’s they were back in business challenging the Hot Wheels supremacy

England was suffering from financial difficulties during the 1980’s and so Matchbox was sold to Universal Toys. In 1992 Universal was bought out by Tyco Toys, who continued to produce the cars. In 1997 disaster struck and Mattel bought out Tyco. There had always been a fierce competition between collectors of each brand and Matchbox fans feared Mattel would change the way they were made. However, Mattel had no intention of changing things and continues to produce Matchbox cars the way they have always been done. Much to collectors delight.

After the automobile was invented, it probably only took a matter of hours before toy cars were produced. Every boy, and even most girls, own at least one toy car. While there are many brands and varieties, easily the most famous and recognizable name is Hot Wheels by Mattel. And if every little boy has a toy car, that one is a Hot Wheels.

Up until 1967, Matchbox and Corgi had been the dominating die cast metal car toys for sale, but all of that changed when Mattel introduced the Hot Wheels. Since then they have become highly collectible, with people traveling all over the country in search of them and spending thousands to get them. One particularly rare car known as the Beach Bomb Back Loader recently went for $70,000 dollars. Who knew your favorite childhood toy could be worth so much?

In 1968, the first set of sixteen different cars, often called the “sweet sixteen” hit the stores, it was an instant success. Boys everywhere loved them. The cars looked cool and ran faster than their Matchbox counterparts due to a better wheel and axle assembly. Not only that, but Hot Wheels were designed to run, powered by gravity, on Hot Wheels tracks.

Entire sets and themes of tracks were released. Loops, jumps, obstacle courses and numerous other accessories were created for kids to use with their Hot Wheels. Kids would put one end of the track on a table or elevated place, put the cars on the tracks, and gravity would do the rest. One of the more famous sets is the 1970 Mongoose & Snake Drag Race Set that has sold for $500 in good condition.

Much of Hot Wheels success is attributed to the meticulous detail that they give to each model and its production. The original Hot Wheels were all produced by actual car designers who had worked for the auto industry before coming to Mattel. Not only that, Mattel uses the actual blueprints that the car makers use to build their cars. Mattel has deals with General Motor, Ford, Chrysler, Ferrari, Mazda and even Toyota have all licensed Hot Wheels to make models of their cars. The car makers send their blue prints to Mattel, who study them intensively and create accurate 1:64 scale replicas of the cars. They then ship the blueprints back to the car makers. Try Albany used cars for a huge selection you love.

In addition to recreating real life cars, Mattel also designs their own cars as well. Two of the more famous include the Twin Mill and Splittin’ Image, designed by the Hot Wheels legendary designer Ira Gifford. They have also come out with multiple series sets, some of the more notable of which are the Sizzlers, Treasure Hunt, and Pearl Driver series. Whatever the case may be, these little toy cars have become as iconic as the cars they were modeled after and in many cases more so.

Try New York used cars for a huge selection you love.

You may not have heard of them but the Morgan Motor Company is England’s largest automaker. The company, formed in 1910 by Anglican minister, still operates out of the red brick buildings they built in 1918. Now they reached back into their early roots to create a new 3 wheeler model, they like of which haven’t been seen in years.

If anybody should know about three wheelers, it is Morgan as they began experimenting with them back in their early days. Their three wheelers were known for a light weight and strong road grip and they did well in many early races. However, Morgan learned a painful lesson along the way. Mainly, that three wheeled vehicles with one wheel in the front tend to flip over on tight turns. So they got a little creative and put two wheels in front and one in the back. In doing so they created a vehicle that was high performing and held tightly to the road. Yet, they have not made one since 1952.

Driving the three wheeler should give a little pause for caution, there is no roof, a very small windshield and open sides. It is highly recommended you wear goggles and a helmet to keep the insects off your face. Still it packs some punch, weighing just over 1,000 pounds it can reach 60 in about 4.5 seconds and maxes out at 115. At $45,000 it is not a bad deal, and it also gets around 35mpg.

Unlike many European makes and model that are unable to come to the United States do to heavy regulations, this little gem will actually be here early next year. The three wheel design gives it a motorcycle classification and due to this it is exempt from the federal automotive emissions and safety standards. While we don’t know if this is good for the rest of us drivers, it is great for automotive enthusiast who wants drive one of these rarities.

It was designed with a retro, pre-world war two, classic look and feel. It has an exposed, forward engine with two slender, nineteen-inch wheels with cycle fenders. It sports a two liter, V-twin engine that cranks out 120hp, and also has the famous Mazda five-speed manual transmission. If you are looking for a great deal on used car try used car dealers Minnesota for a price you will love.

So something this cool has to have a drawback, right? Yes, it is called noise, and there is a lot of it. Modern muffling technology does exist, but it would seem Morgan went out of their way to exclude it. This thing is loud, absurdly so, but then again, you do want everyone within 5 blocks to notice your new set of wheels right?

That being said, get ready for some fun because this thing brings the heat. The countryside will rush by in a blur as you speed down the road in your make shift motorcycle. Everyone you pass will stare not only at how unique it is but how elegant and sleek it is. Morgan’s typical love for bumpy rides is not present at all in this baby as it boasts an independent front suspension that renders road bumps obsolete.

So just when you thought you had seen it all, think again. Morgan created a work of art. They should sell like hot cakes in the United States, after all, the first run of 500 are already sold out in Europe.

If you are looking for a great deal on used car try Michigan used for a price you will love.

If you are a Camaro fan then today is a great day for you. Few cars embody the heart of the American automobile industry like the famed Camaro. For some time we have been hearing rumors about the new Camaro ZL1 and now we can put those rumors to rest. Details were released earlier when a dealers guide was put online. GM has confirmed that the details are legitimate.

For starters, the new Camaro will feature supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that boasts an impressive 580 HP and a 556 lb-ft torque. This makes it the most powerful Camaro to date and it should be able to take on any muscle car on the road. The transmission will come in standard manual or upgraded to an automatic. The automatic will be a Hydra-Matic six-speed while the standard is Tremec six-speed. If you are in the market for a used car try San Diego used car dealers for a great price.

The new Camaro is both wider and longer then it’s current rival, the Shelby Mustang GT500 giving it more control on tight turns. The dimensions are similar to the Camaro SS but it weighs 250 pounds more. Given the power of the engine this should pose no problem what-so-ever.

Color options are the basic nine that include, Black, Ashen Gray, Imperial Blue Metallic, Inferno Orange Metallic, Rally Yellow, Silver Ice Metallic, Summit White, Victory Red and the all new Crystal Red Tintcoat. Sorry, no neon or purple available. To add a little more flavor you can add racing stripes, a powered sun roof and a “Mohawk” carbon fiber hood insert.

The ZL1 will use a Magnetic Ride Control that some of you will recognize from the Cadillac CTS-V and Corvette. It will also boast the Performance Track Management, a feature that allows five modes ranging from wet surfaces to all out crazy.

To keep it on the ground it will have Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar G:2 tires that can mounted on your choice of two 20 -inch forged alloy wheels. One is a 10-spoke low-gloss finish or a 5-spoke option with a polished high-gloss clear coat.

The interior is the ultimate luxury. The seats are heated leather high-performance with suede microfiber inserts that will make your Lazy Boy jealous. Each seat will have six-way power controls as well, so you should be able to settle in at any position, which is good because with those seats you might want to settle in for a nap. Other features are alloy covered pedal s, a leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a rear camera display and an auxiliary gauge boost readout. Of course, you will want to rock out while driving this bad boy, so to help you a long it will come standard with a premium 9 speaker audio system.

If you are wondering if you can afford it then start saving now, as it is expected to go in the low $50,000 range.

At used cars Fresno you will be sure to find a car that’s right for you.

Japan is home to the top car manufacturing giants like Toyota, Honda, and Nissan. They have constantly rolled out the top-notch cars. The Toyota Prius for example, which is the first mass-produced hybrid vehicle, is also considered as one of the cleanest vehicles sold in the US based on toxic emissions. Another iconic Japanese supercar is the Nissan’s Skyline GT-R which has made numerous appearances in both cinema (Fast and Furious series) and video games. Many consider it as the greatest Japanese supercar, and have been a common sight in drag racing and motorsport tournaments in Japan and the rest of the world.

Buying a Japanese car has several advantages. Firstly, they offer the best value for your money. They usually have features which in other countries are still considered extras. Compared to cars manufactured in the US and in Europe, Japanese cars are really affordable. While typically sold at a lower price, the quality and appeal of Japanese cars rivals that of its German and European counterparts.

Vehicles manufactured in other countries also pale in comparison to Japanese cars in terms of mileage. Whether you are driving a Toyota or any other Japanese car you are guaranteed of getting a fuel-efficient unit. They also don’t require too much maintenance and are known to be extremely durable units. Consumers always peg manufacturers of Japanese domestic vehicles as being reliable. Honda for example which constantly leads these surveys only has a failure rating of 9%.

There are two ways to get these high-quality, reliable and low cost Japanese domestic cars. First is through buying Japanese used cars through a dealership while the other is through auctions. The cost for these Japan used cars among dealerships tend to be inflexible, and choices are significantly less than that of auction houses.

The best thing to do is to research online to find the best prices for the Japan used car which you want. You can spend much less if you get Japanese used cars from online auctions. You have to remember though that only those holding auction membership can participate in these auto auctions, hence you should find a reputable agent to bid for you.

Japanese manufacturers have always given us top-notch vehicles. Get your own feature-rich Japan used cars at reduced prices from online auctions. More Japanese used cars resources can be found here.

So a purchasing a cover for your vehicle seems to be in your immediate future. Good idea. You can not only greatly reduce the overall life of your car by not protecting it properly, but vehicles are also prone to denting and scratching while lying dormant in storage.

Rectifying these problems really only requires a car cover. Not only are dust and debris a problem while you’re vehicle’s in storage, but car covers will also protect against an infiltration of your unit by a small animal like a rodent. In addition, if you spend a little money on a car cover now, your potential for savings in the future when you don’t have to bring your vehicle in for repair can be quite a hefty sum. Nothing really beats it.

You need also to be discerning about the brand you choose now that you’ve made your choice to purchase a car cover, however. Unfortunately, not all covers for your vehicle are created equal. Learning about the materials and production methods that go into making the most ideal car cover for their personal vehicular needs is one of the most common mistakes would-be car cover purchasers make by not doing their due diligence.

One fabric type is the norm for most car covers, since they tend to encompass the entire car during storage time. You definitely need to look into the fact that cars covers should breathe or else something that might not initially seem like a bad thing could turn out a lot worse as a result. Car covers need to breathe so that if any moisture or other types of condensation do happen to get underneath the cover, it can evaporate and cause no damage to your car. Your car could ultimately be hurt as a result. Along similar lines, build-up of heat can also adversely affect your car. Car covers need to breathe so that your car doesn’t get unnecessarily hot beneath its covering.

For the majority of vehicle types, that’s why Covercraft car covers are so unique and ideal. Covercraft offers car covers for a variety of different storage situations, as well as making covers of breathable material. Whereas you’ll want a more heavy-duty cover that will protect against all types of weather if it’s just being left outdoors, for example, you might want to choose a lighter weight cover if you plan to store your vehicle in a garage setting. Polycotton, flannel, and specific fabrics that help block out weather or fit the vehicle in a very specific manner are all fabric options from which you can choose. Double-stitched overlapped seams for strength and durability are the norm with Covercraft covers. To ensure a good fit with your vehicle, neoprene elastic is also sewn around the entire cover frame. To ensure no scratching will occur, the material is also tested for non-abrasiveness. At this price range, there’s no better product on the market right now.

In need of covercraft seat covers or more info about auto accessories? Whether you are looking for Nissan car covers, universal-fit auto covers or some other type of product, our well-informed staff can support you in choosing the correct accessories at the correct prices.

You’ve probably seen the car covers that attach to your vehicle’s hood. These protect your car from external sources of potential damage, such as flying rocks while driving and sun damage while parked outside for extended periods of time.

One thing most people don’t realize, however, is that damage to the exterior of your car can occur even while it’s stored within four walls and under a roof. Indeed. Your car’s paint job, for example, could be at risk, even while in the supposed security of your own garage or storage unit. You should seriously consider an indoor car cover to ensure proper safety to your car’s exterior when it’s being parked or stored on a regular basis.

Even when parked in the presumed safety of a garage or storage unit, your car’s exterior can be easily damaged. While your car is not in use, dust and dirt can collect. Dust, dirt, and other abrasive material can cause small scratches, since the top layer of paint on your car is delicate. Hair and nails could additionally be a detriment to your car if you have pets that use your garage on a regular basis. Causing their own forms of damage, that’s not even mentioning the possibility that other types of wild animals could sneak their way into your garage.

To ensure the integrity of your car’s exterior while it’s not in use, indoor car covers are consequently a good option. With fabric that won’t scratch your vehicle, they are made of sturdy but non-abrasive material. Just waiting to cause damage to your last perfect paint job, it protects your car from all the little unanticipated and harmful elements that exist in your garage or storage unit at the same time.

You can purchase an indoor car cover in a variety of different materials and colors to suit your preference. In addition, there are a multitude of different options that vary based on the specific type of indoor environment where you store your car on a regular basis. While a superb way to protect your car from elements within an indoor setting, indoor car covers are not recommended for outdoor use. They are not suited to withstand outdoor elements such as rain or snow, for example. Do your research, but definitely consider purchasing one if you store your car in an indoor setting for any period of time.

People who buy cars of any sort are usually concerned about how to maintain their appearance after they get it out on the road. There are a lot of hazards that come just simply from driving and parking your car outside on a regular basis. It makes sense, then, that most peoples’ concerns are about keeping the exterior of their car looking shiny and new. There’s another element that needs to be considered, however.

Ensuring the interior of your car remains clean is just as important, even though the interior of your car may not get you as many admiring looks as the exterior. On a daily basis, you as the car owner will be the one seeing the interior. There’s a lot that could go wrong, in terms of keeping your car’s interior clean, if you commute to work like most people do.

Morning commuters who drink beverages like coffee will especially not want to test the odds that they’ll never accidentally spill something onto one of their car seats, for example. The odds are probably not high that you’ll avoid doing this, especially when you have someplace to be quickly. And if you ever have to make a quick pit stop at a fast food drive-thru, the backseat’s the most likely place the bag will end up when you’re in a rush. Paper bags are no match for grease. You don’t have to be a genius to know where that grease will ultimately end up.

You should consider car seat covers as an option to address this issue. Car seat covers come in many different fabric choices, all of which effectively combat wear and tear and ensure your car seat covers underneath remain nice and clean. If you’re ever considering reselling your car in the future, car seat covers are a definite lifesaver, as your chances of having to reupholster your car seats after using them is much lower. And for those with more eclectic tastes, seat covers will fit right into your life quite easily. With car seat covers, polka dots and zebra stripes are just some of your pattern options. You can choose whatever you like.

Just remember that with seat covers already installed, any messes you make the next time you stop out for fast food on the go shouldn’t be a problem at all. If you have a busy lifestyle, seat covers should be just the right amount of coverage to keep your car’s interior protected.

In need of Nissan car cover or more info about auto accessories? Whether you are looking for Ford car covers, universal-fit auto covers or some other type of product, our well-informed staff can support you in choosing the correct accessories at the correct prices.

No, it is certainly not true that you could rise to fame and fortune if you go and buy a hybrid car. But a hybrid car is not only a vehicle for the rich and famous. However it might be a good idea for you. Many famous people are driving hybrid cars these days including some of the most famous people in the world like your favourite film stars. But the big question is, should you be driving a hybrid car at all?

So, are you driving anything close to a hybrid car? Well, if you are not, you won’t get pally with some of these hybrid car-drivers. These people were very early owners of hybrids cars. You may not see them in a hybrid vehicle when they pull up next to you on Rodeo Drive, but trust me, they’ve owned a hybrid car before. Whatever, believe me or not they have been reported as driving hybrid cars in the past even if they were given them for publicity purposes.

Alicia Silverstone This star certainly isn’t clueless about the environment. She knows that driving hybrid cars has many benefits. And if the general public doesn’t have the understanding that she has, then that’s just too bad. Alicia knows that hybrid cars are good for the environment and therefore for everyone. So Alicia Silverstone got herself a hybrid car. So she has helped promote this new technology as far as this article goes.

Ellen DeGeneres Now then, this amusing woman not only has a great haircut, but she was driving a great hybrid car even before you probably even knew about hybrid cars and she was probably smiling at you and your heavy duty user last time she shot past you.

Robin Williams comical and lovable, Robin knew when he played the part of Mrs. Doubtfire that he should probably start thinking more like the forward-thinking driver that you would let take your children to and from school, so Robin got himself a hybrid car, and he hasn’t ever looked back since.

Ted Danson Cheers! Ted knows a great car when he sees one. He was certainly off the beer the morning he decided to go check out the new cars on the lot. He got up and bought a car that made a whole lot of sense. He was making a good decision when he decided on a hybrid car.

Brad Pitt What’s cooking good looking? Certainly not Brad’s hybrid fuel engine. He has had a hybrid car, so he knows his car isn’t using way too much fuel.

Prince Charles Surely, if it’s good enough for royalty, then it’s good enough for everyone else! That’s how you should feel when you own a hybrid car. You should feel royal, adorned, and admired because believe it or not, that’s exactly what you are when you choose a hybrid car. So enjoy it.

So, how do you feel? Like a million bucks? Well, you ought to if you are thinking of buying a hybrid car and don’t worry, you won’t get your 15 minutes of fame, but you will be making a very bold statement that people will understand and many people will applaud what you are doing and that will go on for years and years because hybrid cars last for decade or more.

Have you ever asked yourself about hybrid cars? They certainly look stylish and modern, but what is it about them that makes them so different and so extraordinary? After all, most cars look the same these days, do they not? They are all designed by computer to be aerodynamic and aerodynamic is aerodynamic, so they all end up looking indistinguishable to anyone who is not an aficionado.

Well, the fact is that the distinction between a hybrid car and a normal car lies under the bonnet. There are various types of hybrid vehicles as well, but the most widespread kind has a hybrid electric engine. Therefore, you could say that what makes hybrid cars different from most other, normal cars is their engine.

Or engines actually, because hybrid electric cars essentially have two engines. One, the internal combustion engine, runs on petrol, LPG or diesel and the other, the electric motor, runs off electricity stored in an array of powerful batteries. On the other hand, ordinary cars only have an internal combustion engine. It is a good idea to examine these two types of engine separately.

First of all the electric motor. Electrical energy is generated by several components on the car and stored in a large bank or array of powerful batteries. The electricity is created by the turning of the internal combustion engine, just as with a standard car, when it is in use, but also by the wheels or / and the car’s braking system. Different models have different methods of generating this electricity, but they are all very hi-tech and very efficient.

When the car’s internal computers decide that the car no longer needs the power of the internal combustion engine, it will turn it off and switch to the electric motor instead. The circumstances where this might happen are, for example, when you are driving slowly in inner-city traffic, when you are cruising at moderate speed on a flat motorway or when you are going down hill. This saves a considerable amount of fuel, which is clearly a great saving to you.

However, there are occasions when you have to have more power than the batteries can supply you, for example, when accelerating hard, when overtaking or when climbing a hill. At times such as these, the electric motor will shut down and the combustion engine will take over and start delivering power to the accelerator and electricity to the batteries. When the requirement for extra power has passed, the batteries will take over again.

These choices are all taken by the hybrid electric vehicle’s (HEV’s) on board computer system and you will not notice much other that a rush of power or a quietening of the propulsion system. This works very well in most scenarios, but some drivers of HEV’s would like to have a manual override for abnormal circumstances, such as an undulating terrain.

All in all, cars with hybrid electric engines work very well at reducing fuel bills but they are still too expensive to be much more than a gimmicky toy and a salve to the conscience for the well-to-do.

Owen Jones, the writer of this article writes on many topics, but is currently involved with hybrid electric engines.
