The Coolest Ford Cars On The Silver Screen
One of America’s most popular car manufacturers by far is Ford Motor Co. This company has produced best selling cars such as the Taurus, F-150 and the original pony car, the Mustang. It’s no surprise that the brand has made lots of appearances in some of the most popular movies.
Ford cars have made appearances on both the big screen and the small screen. The practical and functional Fusion has appeared on the super popular Fox show “The OC”, giving it a bit of that “cool factor”. The Fusion is a sedan that’s a lot of fun to drive, offers great fuel economy and comes equipped with the Sync System. The best part is that it’s affordable with an average price of around $20k. Jennifer Garner aka agent Sidney Bristow on the hit show Alias has been seen chasing around the bad guys in a Ford Escape. The Escape is a compact crossover SUV with a comfortable interior, impressive crash test results and an optional V6 engine which outputs 240 hp. The Escape is priced at around the $21k range and if it’s good enough for a secret agent then it’s more than good enough for the rest of us.
The most famous vehicle in the automaker’s lineup by far is the Mustang. One look at her and it’s easy to see why; she’s beautiful and sports ton of muscle. She has amassed a total of five hundred appearances including; “I am Legend”, “Gone In Sixty Seconds” and “Diamonds Are Forever”. The Mustang made its cinema debut in the James Bond movie “Goldfinger”. Ford provided the production with a large variety of autos to use including the Thunderbird, which was used as the CIA agents’ cars and the Lincoln Continental which ends up annihilated.
The Mustang had a prominent feature role in the movie “Bullitt” which stars Steve McQueen. The1968 Mustang GT stole the scene with an adrenaline pumping car chase. Two Mustang GT’s and two Dodge Chargers were used in the infamous scene. One of the auto’s most recent impressive appearances was in the huge blockbuster hit “I Am Legend”. In this flick Will Smith is one of the last people left on the planet and can be seen riding around in a slick Mustang hunting for deer. Other automobiles featured include the Expedition and Escape. The 2010 Mustang is priced at around $21k and is available as either a V6 or V8 engine.
It’s easy to see why Ford is such an integral part of American history and as a result it makes sense that the vehicles would make frequent appearances in iconic movies. Ford vehicles are built in America, built tough and most of all practical and attainable for the average consumer. We’ll be seeing Ford cars for a long time to come in the movies and in real life.
