Clarified – Easy Ways To Diet Hassle-Free
Katie, my wife, and I badly wanted to lose weight. So we thought carefully about what it was we wanted and why. Our little tete-a-tete revealed a rather basic wish-list. My wife’s dearest wish was to have more energy when playing with the kids. Also, she wanted to feel more confident revealing herself to me.
Predominantly for me it was about buying stylish off-the-peg clothes again, instead of the dreary ageing ranges available for ‘over size’ people. We have a 3 storey townhouse, and I wanted to run up the stairs without panting by the top floor!
We also learnt that it’s not just about how we appear on the outside – our inner self-worth is also crucial. Those of us who are obese tend to have a very low self-image. It’s a popular assumption that reducing weight will make everything in life good again. As overweight people ourselves, we completely identified with that. However, this is what we found -
Our sub conscious mind cannot distinguish between reality and imagination. It therefore ‘programs’ the conscious element of our brain with anything that occupies it. Go over the same thing time after time and it will become the dominant concept. It then follows that it will manifest itself in real life.
Mull that thought over for a moment. The chances are you’ve been repeatedly telling yourself that you’re too large. We need to change the messages we send to our sub-conscious into positive ones.
We also need to focus on all the benefits of being a healthier weight. This takes the emphasis away from the effort of weight reduction. We started off with all the things we’d like to do or have more of: Things like having fun with the kids, cycling, more confidence, poise, going for long walks, dancing and playing tennis.
And then we visualised trips away, wearing lovely summer outfits. We got the respect and esteem of people as we confidently mingled with others. Everything was fantastic!
Hence, we followed the process and reaped the rewards. Has it been worth it? You bet…
